Yukon Fire Box
Chris Randall a local to Manitoba and the creator of the Yukon Fire Box has this to say about his excellent back country tool:
Why Fire Boxes?
We started making fireboxes about five years ago after reading about the ideas of Bill Mason in "Song of the Paddle" and later while browsing the internet we came across the Little Dandy by "Eb" Ebhart a.k.a. Nimblewill Nomad.
As I had recently gained access to laser cutting facilities this seemed a good place to start so I produced a few for myself and friends, gradually evolving designs and materials based on our own trips and feedback from customers.
Occasionally I am able to buy titanium at a reasonable price and produce a few fireboxes in this fantastic material.
Benefits of using a Fire Box in the back country
Unlike many designs all our models have a base supported off the ground. Our fire boxes avoid blackening rocks, scorching the soil or having to dig a fire pit. Less heat is wasted so you need less of the dead wood that is an important part of forest ecology.
Our fire boxes put the heat where you want it, use less wood and make it easier to cook the food you need after a hard day outdoors.
Made from stainless steel these fire boxes won't rust. We use thicker material where it's needed to make your fire box last.
Very nice
For many years I've wanted something like this; it is very solid and very well made. Couldn't ask for better.
